How shipping cost is actually calculated
International couriers don't just charge by how heavy your parcel is — they charge by whichever is greater between the actual weight and the volumetric (dimensional) weight, which is the space the parcel occupies. A box of three pairs of shoes can be billed on its size rather than its mass. This is why two orders that weigh the same can cost different amounts to ship, and why the single biggest lever on your shipping bill is reducing bulk.
The three ways to cut shipping cost
1. Remove the boxes
Shoe boxes add significant weight and a lot of volume. Removing them and packing the shoes in protective wrap can cut billed weight by roughly a quarter to nearly half on a multi-pair order. We always offer this — just say yes when we ask. If you specifically want the original boxes (for resale or display), we keep them, but know it raises the cost.
2. Consolidate into one parcel
Sending five items in one box is far cheaper than five separate shipments, because you pay one base fee and the volumetric math works in your favour. This is also why free shipping kicks in at three or more items — consolidation is where the savings live. If you're planning several purchases, batch them.
3. Pick the right courier
DHL, UPS and FedEx each have strengths by region and weight bracket. We choose the cheapest reliable option for your specific destination and parcel rather than defaulting to one carrier. For some routes a slightly slower service saves meaningfully; we'll tell you the trade-off.

These are transit times once the parcel leaves the warehouse. Add a few days for the seller to dispatch the item and for QC, which depends on the factory's speed.
A note on customs and duties
Shipping cost and customs duty are two different things. The calculator above estimates the courier fee only. Whether you pay import duty depends on your country's threshold and the declared value — the US has a relatively high personal-import threshold, while the UK and EU apply VAT above lower limits. We declare parcels appropriately and can split larger orders to keep each parcel under a threshold where that helps.
